The Community Shul is known for it’s highly meaningful bar and bat mitzvah services. After attending our religious school program, most candidates have a strong background in prayers, history, ritual and Hebrew. Beginning about six months before the ceremony, Rabbi Arthur meets with the bar/bat mitzvah candidate and his/her family almost every other week to strengthen the relationship between the family and Rabbi Arthur. Beyond creating a service unique to each family, these meetings provide a wonderful occasion to discuss a variety of Jewish, spiritual and ethical topics. And, as Rabbi Arthur puts it, “This is a great opportunity to ask a rabbi a question that you’ve always wanted to ask.” In short, if you’ve ever been to a Community Shul Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you’ve witnessed a truly spiritual experience that will be a precious memory for all those in attendance.
